How to create a rotating planet in Adobe After Effects

Today, I will show you how to create a rotating planet in Adobe After Effects.

First, you need to find a flat map from a planet you want to use, with your favorite search engine.

For this example, I will use a flat map from planet earth.

After you downloaded the image to your computer, you need to import it into your project, so double click in the project window, and select the image and click on Import.

Now you need to drag the image into the composition, so click on the image, and while holding down the mouse button, drag it into the composition.

Make sure the image is still active, and open your effects and presets window.

Search for Sphere, and choose, CC Sphere. Just click and drag the effect onto the image layer and you have created your planet.

Now you want to add a rotation to the planet, so click on the rotation flyout menu in the effects control window, and turn on the timer for the Y rotation.

Drag your time slider to the end of the composition, and change the number of rotations to 1.

You can change the radius, to make the planet bigger or smaller.

If you feel adventurous, you can even change the light, and shading, but that is up to you.

After you are done with modifying the composition, open the preview panel, and click on Play to see the end result.

How to add a gradient to a piece of text or an image in Adobe Photoshop

Today I will show you how to add a gradient to a piece of text or an image in Adobe Photoshop.


First you need to select the text you want to add the gradient to, and right click the text layer.

Choose Blending Options in the new popup menu, and after that, choose Gradient overlay.

If you double click on the gradient bar, you can change the gradient colors to whatever you want.
Click OK when you are done.

You can also add a gradient to an image, so just open an image, but make sure you duplicate the image layer first, because the first layer is locked.

So right click on the layer and choose duplicate layer. Give your layer a new name if you want, and click, OK.

All you have to do now, is repeat the same steps as you did with the text example. But for the blend mode, choose Multiply.

How to import an Illustrator File into Adobe After Effects

In this Episode, I will show you how to import an Illustrator File into Adobe After Effects the correct way.

First, you need to make sure that every part of your illustrator file is on its own separate layer.

So Click F7 to show the layers window if its not shown already, and select the layer.
After that you need to click on the fly out menu on the right of the layers window, and choose, Release to layers(Sequence).

All the parts of the design, will be put on a seperate layer now.
Select all the layers beneath the top layer, and drag them above the top layer.
Drag the bottom layer to the trashcan to remove that layer.
All you have to do now, is save your illustrator file.

Open up After Effects, and Double click in the Project part of your window.
Select the Illustrator file you just saved, and choose, Import as, Composition and retain Layer sizes.

Make sure that Sequence options is not selected, and click on Import.
As you can see, your Illustrator file is now correctly imported with all the elements of your file on seperate layers, ready to be edited.

Today I will show you how to align several objects in Adobe
Illustrator.

First, you need to select the objects you want to align with the selection tool, and click on one of the align buttons in the toolbar.

If you want to align all your objects in reference to one of your objects, click on, Align to selection, and choose Align to Key Object. Or click on one of the objects.

Just select the object you want to use as reference, so the outline becomes a thick line, and click on one of the align functions in the toolbar.

How to age an image the easy way

In this episode, we will show you how to age an image the easy way.

First you need to search for old paper, or aged paper on Google, and download the images.

Now you need to place these images above the existing image layer, so go to file and click on place.

Place the images one by one above the image layer, until you have all the paper images placed.

Turn off the visibility for the top layers, by clicking on the eye, to the left of the layers, So you have 1 paper layer visible, and the original image.

After that, you need to select the visible paper layer, by clicking on it and set the blending mode to multiply.

You can change the fill by clicking on the arrow to the right of fill, and move the slider.
Then, you need to add a photo filter, by clicking on, add new adjustment layer, and click on Photo Filter.

Set the filter to Sepia and adjust the density, to get the best result.
You can try the same now, with the different paper image layers, to get the result you want.

So turn of the visibility of the paper image layer you just changed, and make the next paper image layer visible by clicking on the eye.

In this episode, we will show you how to create a simple dotted line in Adobe After Effects.

First, you need to create a line using the pen tool, so just draw a few simple lines.

after that, you need to click on the fly open button, next to the shape layer. Now you need to open the contents, and after that, open the shape.

Click open the stroke now, and click on the plus sign, next to Dashes, to create the dotted line.

You can change the dash now, by changing the value.
You can also create a dotted line, with any other shape tool.

How to create simple eyelashes in Adobe Illustrator

In this episode, we will show you how to create simple eyelashes in Adobe Illustrator.

First you need to go to edit, and choose preferences, and click on general.

Change the keyboard increment to 10 pixels, and click OK

After that, choose the line segment tool and make sure that the stroke is set to black, and the stroke is set to 5, and draw a vertical line, using the shift button.

With the line still selected, click on stroke, and change the profile to width profile 5, and click on the flip along button, so the thicker part is at the bottom.

Now you need to copy the line, so just select the line, and while holding down alt, click on the right arrow button several times until you have enough copies(Or just click and hold down Alt).

Select all the lines now, and go to object, open envelope distort, and click on, make with warp. Make sure you click on preview to see the result.

Just mess around with the values now, until you are happy with the result and then click OK.
